On any given day, you never know what will wander into PD’s Hot Shop in Vancouver and yesterday was no exception. Hot Shop customer James brought by two early 80s ‘Shred’ completes for us to look at. One with the elusive HARDCORE trucks [yes, direct relation to the classic Skull Skates 'Hardcore' logo] and Alva conical wheels, the other complete with Variflex trucks and Hosoi Rockets.
The ‘Shred’ deck was the PD’s Hot Shop shop brand in the late 70s and early 80s. From the Skateboarding Vancouver book, “This was the board that got a lot of first time skaters into skating in Vancouver.”
