Killer Completes at the Hot Shop
Two Australians in Vancouver on their way home in mere hours decided first to stop by PD’s Hot Shop / Skull Skates and grab two notable completes. A Tor (Carlos Longo reissue shape) deck with Skullwing Super Pro III’s, Skull Skates black Radials and a MOFO deck with Danforth Sixtracks, black Mini-Cubics (would have been obsessed to have Blackhart wheels, but good luck finding those) - CULT.
Left Coast Cult Flatland Skim Video
Skull Skates skimboarders Dylan Maranda and Tim Ladner are featured in this new edit by Dylan himself. Obscure title reference to the ‘Left Hand Path’, but be assured that this video is classic Vancouver flatland skimboard ripping and fun in the sun. They must be worshiping something ancient and otherworldly though as the ollies and pop-shuv heights are getting surreal.

1983 Seylynn Bowl Contest Winners
Rob Dalton came by PD’s Hot Shop and dropped of this nice piece of Seylynn Bowl photographic history from 1983. First place BMX - Rob Dalton, first place skateboarding - Cory Campbell. Rob’s sitting on a killer Skyway TA while Cory is biting into a Sims New Wave deck (complete with PD’s sticker on the tail).
Skull Skates x Endeavor Snowboards Collab Launch
Obscure Tim Ladner Clear Cruiser Shape
Skull Skates x Endeavor Snowboard Design Collaboration Launch Event Friday Oct. 18th at PD’s Hot Shop
Surfing on the snow was an idea that had not yet been proven when Skull Skates first began producing their Crystal Ocean snowboards in the winter of 1983. Through 15 years of innovation Skull Skates produced some of the world’s best snowboards, always pushing design forward and always produced in small quantities.
The snowboard industry was ripe for change when Max Jenke and Scott Serfas founded Endeavor Snowboard Design in Vancouver, Canada in 2002. Through the use of their own archetype snowboard lab to design and prototype new ideas along with input from some of the world’s best riders, Endeavor has created leading edge technology in snowboarding.
Had Skull Skates continued to produce snowboards, 2013 would be Crystal Ocean’s 30th anniversary. It’s appropriate then that Endeavor Snowboard Design is collaborating with Skull Skates / Crystal Ocean to offer 3 limited edition snowboards combining a re-release Skull graphic from 1990 with up to the minute Endeavor design technology for the 2013/14 season.
In recognition of the new partnership release, Skull and Endeavor will be presenting a launch party on Friday, October 18th from 5pm until 9pm at PD’s Hot Shop 3734 W. 10th Ave near Alma Street in Vancouver.
Get a first look at the new boards and view a special display of vintage snowboards and memorabilia starting from the 70s forward. DJ Kilocee will be spinning records and stories will be told. For more information call 604-739-7796.
Skull Skates x Endeavor Collab Snowboard Now Available
The Skull Skates x Endeavor Snowboards collaboration snowboard is now available for purchase from Skull Skates / PD’s Hot Shop. The excitement around the snowboard has been palpable as it features the classic 1988 Skull Skates full board, top and bottom skeleton graphic culminated with Endeavor Snowboards’ latest and greatest snowboard technology. Killer and cult as hell to see the Skull Skates / Crystal Ocean graphic glossed into a board with the following contemporary features:
“- Zero Camber w/ Dow-Tech. With no pressure on the contact points due to the raised wings, this board feels loose and catch-free like a reverse camber board, however it remains more stable and predictable like a regular camber board. Dow-Tech raises the contact points 2mm off the snow creating a ride similar to a reverse camber without loosing the benefits of a camber board.
- Standard Core. Precision machined from poplar wood, the Standard Core is lightweight and extremely durable.
- Carbon Fibre Beam. Strategically placed carbon stiffens the board without adding weight and increases the response by adding flex memory and pop.”
Very limited release of 152, 155 and 158 cm size snowboard decks plus beanies and hoodies now available for direct consumption HERE.

Vintage McKinlays at Seylynn
Rare photo of PD’s Hot Shop rider Mike McKinlay doing a backside air (complete with PD’s Hot Shop painters cap) in the upper section of Seylynn while Skull Skates rider Sam McKinlay looks on. No concise date on this, but Mike’s riding a Vision Gonz Double Face and Sam has an H-Street Hensley, so definitely around ‘89/’90. Ray McKinlay photo.
Plus - a contemporary photo of Mike in the same Seylynn upper section on a McGill reissue. Style hasn’t changed much! Murray Siple photo.
